Privacy Policy

Effective 5 October 2026

The short version

  • CitizenDays has no accounts. Your trips, goals and dates are stored only on your device, and we never receive them.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no location: you enter your trips yourself.
  • If you buy CitizenDays Pro, the App Store or Google Play takes the payment, and RevenueCat confirms it using a random ID, never your trips.
  • The calculators on our website run in your browser. The dates you enter there are not sent to us.

Who we are

CitizenDays ("the app", "we", "us") is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Contact us at support@citizendays.com.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter: the countries you travelled to, the dates you left and came back, any reasons you note for your trips, the goals you track and the dates they need (such as when you became a permanent resident or plan to apply), your reminder choices and your settings. The app keeps them in its private storage on your device. We do not receive them, and deleting the app deletes them.

Backups and exports

When you export a backup file or a list of your absences (as a PDF or CSV file), the app creates the file on your device and opens your device's share sheet. The file goes only where you choose to save or send it, such as your files, a cloud drive or an email. We do not receive it. A backup file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.

Reminders

If you turn reminders on, the app asks your device for permission to show notifications, then schedules them on your device. They are not sent through our servers or anyone else's. You can turn them off in the app or in your device settings.

What leaves your device

Purchases

CitizenDays Pro, whether the yearly subscription or the lifetime purchase, is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes your payment; we never see your payment details. To confirm and restore purchases we use RevenueCat, which receives a random app user ID created on your device, your purchase and transaction records, basic technical information such as device platform, operating system and app version, and your store country. RevenueCat does not receive your trips, goals or dates.

App updates

The app checks for updates and fixes delivered by Expo (EAS Update). These requests include technical information such as your device platform, app version and update channel, and your IP address, which Expo keeps in standard server logs.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

Our website

Our website is hosted by Cloudflare Pages, which keeps standard server logs such as IP address and browser type. The website has no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Its calculators run entirely in your browser: the dates you enter are not sent to us or to anyone else.

What we do not collect

No account details, no name, no email address unless you email us, no location, no contacts, no photos, no advertising identifiers, no analytics and no third-party tracking. If you have chosen in your device settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us crash reports that do not identify you.

How we use data

Only to provide the app: to sell, confirm and restore purchases, to deliver app updates, to answer your messages, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on these legal bases: performance of our contract with you (purchases and updates), our legitimate interests in answering support requests and keeping the app working, and legal obligations where they apply.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit its use to providing their service to us:

ProviderPurposeData
Apple and GoogleApp distribution and paymentsAs described in their own privacy policies
RevenueCatConfirming and restoring purchasesRandom app user ID, purchase records, device and store information
Expo (EAS Update)Delivering app updates and fixesIP address, device platform, app version and update channel, in standard server logs
Cloudflare PagesHosting this websiteStandard server logs such as IP address and browser type

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

You can use the free tier without buying anything, keep reminders off, and remove everything the app holds by deleting it.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because your trips and goals never reach us, a request will usually be about purchase records or emails. To make one, email support@citizendays.com. We will respond within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents: in the last 12 months we collected the categories of personal information described above (identifiers such as a random app user ID, and commercial information about your purchase) for the purposes described in this policy. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and we do not use sensitive personal information.

Security

What you enter stays on your device, protected by your device's own security, such as its passcode and encryption. Data that leaves your device is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we collect as little as possible in the first place.

Children

The app is intended for adults tracking their residence for visas, settlement and citizenship. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
